AIEA ORCHID SHOW Appreciation Lunch
The appreciation lunch was held on Sunday July 9, 2017 at Makino Chaya. Co-chairs, Gary Kaplan and Cassie Adachi
thanked everyone who attended for all of their hard work during our show to make it successful. We all had a great
time. In the last newsletter I forgot to include Arlene Hajime as a co-chair with Ron for the Hospitality committee for our
show.
FAMILY NIGHT
Thank you to Uyen Truong and Eric Petnumkeo for volunteering to co-chair our Family Night. Join us at our Family
Night on Saturday August 19, 2017 at the Aiea Elementary Cafeteria. The menu for the night will be Thai food. The cost
of the dinner is $18.00 for adults and $9.00 for children (5-11). Dinner will begin at 5:45. Please bring your address
labels to place on the raffle tickets so that you don’t have to write your name on every ticket. The deadline for payment
is August 4, 2017. See the flyer for more information.
SCHOOL SUPPLY DRIVE
Once again, we are asking the members of our Club if they would like to donate some school supplies so that the
students, who are not as fortunate, will be able to concentrate on studying and not trying to get their school supplies. If
you would like to donate any school supplies, please bring them to the general meetings on July 25, 2016 and August
22, 2016 or on Family Night August 20, 2016. They are looking for pencils, mechanical pencils, spelling books,
composition books (Primary & College ruled), hand sanitizer, markers (thin and thick), graph paper, glue sticks, pencil
box, scissors, paper towels and folder paper (College Ruled). Any donation is welcomed.
EWA ORCHID SHOW
The Ewa Orchid Show will be held on July 21, 22 and 23, 2017 at the Ewa Elementary School Cafeteria. The theme for
the show is “Back to DA 50’s.” Set-up for the show will be on Thursday July 20, 2017. Please bring your plants, props
and greens by 11 am. If you are planning to bring anything large, please call and let us know (234-8298). Come and
join us in setting up the display on Thursday and break down on Sunday. The show runs from 9am to 5pm on Friday
and Saturday and 9 am to 3 pm on Sunday.
