2020 10 31 Invitation to the virtual nursery tours to S&W Orchids and H&R Nurseries: Below message is from Mel W, kindly inviting AOC members to the virtual nursery tours. Don't miss the great opportunities to see what's flowering in the masters' gardens!

Hi Aiea Orchid Club Members.  You will have an opportunity in the next two weeks two visit two premier orchid nurseries on the island.  On Tuesday, November 3, the Kunia Orchid Society (KOS) will be hosting a tour of S&W Orchids in Waianae.  Then on Wednesday, November 11, the Honolulu Orchid Society (HOS) will be visiting H&R Nurseries in Waimanalo.  The tours will be conducted virtually via Zoom Video Conference.  KOS and HOS have invited Aiea Orchid Club members to join them on the tours.

You do not have to pre-register for this tour.

The deadline for registration is November 10, 2020.  After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.  Be sure to keep the confirmation email in a safe place because you will need the information in the email to join the meeting.

2020 04 13 April Newsletter - AOC show cancelled

This month's newsletter announces the decision to cancel this year's AOC show which was scheduled in June.  Very sad and many of you folks may be disappointed but the health of everybody is the utmost priority.  Orchids will continue to flower, you know it!

When you get a chance, take a look at HOS website.  They are posting bunch of breathtaking photos of members' orchids as the series.  Thanks HOS for all your efforts to entertain us at home 💖

2020 March Newsletter

This newsletter is being sent for information purposes only. The March 23 meeting has been cancelled as previously announced.

The Kunia Orchid Show and the Windward Orchid Show have both been canceled because of the virus pandemic.

We miss you all, but we'll see you again soon, to enjoy beautiful orchids together, so don't worry! It's the perfect time to stay home and take care of your plants, pull out weeds (which is probably way overdue), etc. and do things at home which you procrastinated for all these years while busy socializing outside.

I got to rearrange a few things in the kitchen, went through some drawers and threw out things I don't even know why I still had, and fixed things I should have long time ago. So, we can be active even at home. Tai Chi or Yoga in your living room? Way to go!

2020 03 17 March & April General Meetings CANCELLED, Silent Auction Postponed

The general meeting which was scheduled for Monday, March 23 is cancelled.  Because of the corona virus, any gathering of 50 or more people is discouraged.

The Silent Auction scheduled in April is also postponed for the time being and will move to a later date.  The April general meeting is also cancelled.  President Kumano will keep checking to see if our June show can go on as scheduled.  He will advise everyone if any changes occur.

2020 03 13 Windward Orchid Show CANCELLED

It is so sad to let you know that due to coronavirus concern, this year's Windward Orchid Show, which was scheduled for March 20 to 22, 2020, has also been cancelled.  Better safe than sorry.  Orchids will bloom again, and we'll have many more shows, if not this time.  So keep smiling and smell the flowers, and don't forget to wash your hands. :)

In lieu of coronavirus concern, the Kunia Orchid Show, which was scheduled for March 20 to 22, has been cancelled.  Stay healthy & safe!

2020 02 24 First Monthly Meeting of the Year

The first members' general meeting of 2020, with beautiful plants by the members being judged.  Topic was dendrobium by Roy A, suited for the hot weather in Ewa.

2020 01 26 Installation Banquet & Club Event Calendar

Kicking off the new year of 2020, the annual Installation Banquet was held at Pearl Country Club, and officers are peacefully and enthusiastically installed by Williette, as our tradition.  Congratulations Mel & Pam for being selected as the Orchidists of the Year of 2019 for all your hard work and contribution!
